Patrols the midfield in Canada game
Freuler won one of two tackles and had one block, four clearances and one interception in Wednesday's 2-1 win versus Canada.
Analysis: Freuler was the customary defensive stalwart in the midfield and filled the stat sheet on that end, while his contribution in the final third was lacking. He has tallied at least one tackle in all three fixtures, accumulating five (four won) and logging two key passes, two blocks and two crosses (one accurate) over that span.
Disciplined display in deeper role
Freuler generated one shot (zero on goal) and one chance created in Thursday's 4-1 win against Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Analysis: Freuler was far less involved offensively compared to his opener against Qatar where he had made some runs into the box. He sat deeper against Bosnia and his only attacking moment came from a shot outside the box. But his importance showed in other ways as two tackles and 71 completed passes along with five accurate long balls made him a reliable presence defensively and in the build-up, and his one block proved to be a crucial moment as he denied what could have been a goal for Edin Dzeko.
